Optimus was founded in March 2004 by energy industry veterans. Since then, Optimus has grown to include a substantial team of seasoned professionals with deep experience in the recruiting and consulting space, with a particular emphasis on commodities and technology business areas. Our direct and extensive experience in the functions necessary to operate an effective commodities trading and marketing business set us apart.
Optimus is proud to be a certified Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) business. WBENC is the largest certifier of women-owned businesses in the United States and requires a rigorous evaluation of a company’s ownership, financials, and management to ensure it meets stringent excellence criteria.

Founding Partner of Optimus, Shelley has been in the energy sector since 1992 having direct experience in key functional disciplines including accounting, risk management, trading and strategic consulting in energy commodities. Prior to her time with Optimus Shelley’s core energy-focused employers included entities such as Deloitte & Touche, Enron, El Paso, and Avista Energy.
Founding Partner of Optimus, Heather joined the energy sector in 1997 and has direct experience in many functional disciplines. She has a consistent theme of combining technology and processes to create effective solutions to support trading. Early employers, Altra Energy Technologies (an FIS company) and Dynegy, recognized this value and quickly promoted her to leadership roles.
Partner of Optimus, Michelle began her career in the energy sector in 1995. She has broad experience in Accounting, Risk Management, Project Delivery, and Strategic Consulting. Michelle has held key roles at prominent organizations, including Arthur Andersen, Enron, AEP, and Merrill Lynch Commodities. Before joining Optimus as a Partner in 2014, Michelle served as the Global Head of Commodity Operations at Barclays Capital.
