In 2012 there were many articles published about the growing demand for technical jobs. For example, QuickCert stated “traditionally, San Jose and San Francisco have been two of the top metro areas to work in technology… However, Houston was actually listed as the top city for tech jobs.” This growing trend and demand has continued into 2013 in Houston and other Texas cities. We are seeing clients with “sticker shock” over the increased compensation expectations due to the demand. Yet we are not seeing consistent compensation studies reflecting the rapidly moving market so Human Resources and hiring managers are struggling to respond to their needs for technology expertise. It will be interesting to see how long this trend continues for qualified technology talent.
