In conjunction with the transition of Thad Hill to CEO in May, Houston-based power company Calpine Corp. (NYSE: CPN) is making a slew of other leadership changes.

With Hill now installed as the president and CEO as planned, outgoing CEO Jack Fusco takes over as Calpine’s executive chairman. But Calpine is making other changes too.

Calpine Executive Vice President Steve Pruett has been named chief commercial officer and is now responsible for trading, origination, development and commercial analytics. Pruett has led the commercial operations team since joining Calpine in 2011.

Senior Vice President Hether Benjamin Brown is the new chief administrative officer overseeing human resources, information technology services, change management and facilities. She previously served as Calpine’s senior vice president of human resources starting in February 2012.

“With Jack stepping into the executive chairman’s role and my assumption of duties as CEO, we have eliminated the chief operating officer position and are reassigning some of those duties to Steve and Hether,” Hill said a statement. “We have been fortunate to retain a strong bench of senior leaders.”

Hill had previously served in the COO role before being promoted to president and put in line to take over as CEO.

Calpine also announced additional inside promotions of people to senior vice president roles that will report directly to Pruett.

Calpine is the 29th-largest public company in the Houston area, according to Houston Business Journal research, and the electric power company employs more than 2,100 people.
